Pitchfork Puts #1 Next To Kid A (Again)

Oh look an obscure reference to a band only four people like is in the header of the music forum. How novel and unexpected.

Pitchfork Puts #1 Next To Kid A (Again)

These guys are like Rolling Stone, who put out a new list of something every couple of years so they can say Sgt. Pepper's is #1, they just do it with Kid A.

The list is interesting, although patently wrong, and it's funny to see them put albums they didn't like, like "Elephant," and leave "Boys and Girls in America," which had one of their most glowing reviews ever, out of the top 50. Also to put "Funeral" at #2 and compare it to "In the Aeroplane" in the 50 word blurb, to put the potentially two most overrated albums of this and the last decade side by side, but then leave "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix," literally everyone's darling for this year, off entirely.

Z.S. Ghost and I compared the choices of the songlist in a fairly intelligent fashion

Zack Hoagie and I yelled at the choices of the songlist

not MY darling.

Pitchfork record reviews can't consider the social impact of the album, because it hasn't happened yet. End of decade best of lists can consider it. I don't see why everyone's panties are all twisted up.

Just for fun, I checked out their 'top songs of the decade' list and had a good laugh at three goddamn LCD Soundsystem songs in the top 25. Oh Pitchfork, never change.

Kid A's not even Radiohead's no. 1. It's better than Pablo Honey but that's all it's better than.

oops. Just bumped horribly. I apologise profusely. How can I ever repay you all?

Mildly amusing foot note: Rolling Stone named Kid A the best album of the 2000's.

Is Kid A an album to say you like to make you look sophisticated? I mean it's good, but it's deliberately left-field and the most pretentious album Radiohead have ever done (and incidentally, ever will do, since they now are never doing another studio album again).

Haha, no. They said that, sure, but rule #19-j of music is never trust any band ever when it comes to their plans for future releases. Also known as the Sufjan Rule, previously known as the Prince Rule.

Of course, by the Sufjan Rule we cannot trust this information either.

That's reggae.

Maybe they'll call it Kid B and do the alphabet like Stevens did the states.

I'm actually tempted to argue 'yes' because I've met three different people who've told me that Kid A was the best Radiohead album but couldn't tell me why it was better than OK Computer. And one who said the same about Amnesiac. It doesn't mean they're wrong, but if you're gonna make a declarative statement like that (especially about something being distinctively better than OK Computer), you should probably have a reason why so.

I was tempted to argue yes as well, for different reasons but then the word literally came around and then ARGUING IS STUPIIIIDD

This whole entire album is dreadful. It made me lock myself in the closet and almost puke. If I ever hear any of these songs ever again I will drive a stake through the singer's heart and dance the "Tango" on his skull.

I would say that the effect music has on people can't always be put into words.
