since it probably won't make the list, let's do a PTA disbands rundown. it was my #3 so i'm surprised it didn't at least crack the top 60.

- The school bus braking procedure
- "The men of the ninth bearded infantry were fluffing and sunning their beards in the sun."
- "Use your phony guns as clubs!"
- "Prove me wrong kids! Prove me wrong!"
- "My bones are so brittle. But I always drink plenty of... Malk?"
- SEXUS
- "The kids have to learn about Tek War sooner or later."
- "Hey, that little boy is playing three games of chess at once!"
- perspicacity always being in the last place you look.
- Purple Monkey Dishwasher
- Stark stooping to that right in the middle of Montana and Dakota's wedding.
- "I don't have your money here! Ehhhh... its in Bill's house and ehhh... Fred's house!"
- Perpetual motion machine.
- "Hello mother dear..."
- "THE TAXES! THE FINGER THING MEANS THE TAXES!"
- "Oh my God! THE PTA HAS DISBANDED" *jumps through window*
- EVERYTHING ABOUT MOE, FRINK AND JASPER SUBSTITUTE TEACHING!
- "I've had just about enough of your Vassar bashing, young lady!"
- "That's a very nice jig, Kearney."
- "Me? Go to my office? Highly irregular, but alright!"
- Prisoners in the coat closets.

seriously. shame on all of you.
Once you know you won't impress you'll find that being nice is nice for its own sake.

6. Lemon of Troy - 310 points
(19 of 35 lists. 2 #1 Votes - Captain Hot Stuff, Kane)

"Lemon of Troy" is the 24th episode of The Simpsons' sixth season, and originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on May 14, 1995 In the episode, the children of Springfield wage war on Shelbyville after their beloved lemon tree is stolen from them by Shelbyville children. The parents of the Springfield children take Ned's recreational vehicle (RV) to search for their boys, and when they find them, the children convince them to help recover the stolen tree from an impound lot.

Brent Forrester wrote "Lemon of Troy", his second episode of The Simpsons.[ Early on in the production stage, the writers decided that the leader of the Shelbyville children, Shelby, and his father should be doppelgängers of Bart and Homer. Shelby's voice was provided by Tress MacNeille, and Shelby's father was voiced by Hank Azaria, who based his performance on Walter Matthau. The voice of Homer, Dan Castellaneta, originally based his performance of Homer on Matthau

Memorable quotes:

Grampa: Aw, some things never change.
Milhouse: Hey everyone, an old man's talking!
Grampa: Grampa's the name. Did you know that this tree dates back to frontier times?
Kids: (murmurs of amazement)
Grampa: Shut up!

Marge: How's Bart's tutoring going?
Lisa: Mom, the only thing Bart's tutoring is guerilla warfare in Shelbyville.
Marge: Come again?
Lisa: Mom, Bart went with a bunch of kids to go wage war on Shelbyville.
Marge: Homer, come quick. Bart quit his tutoring job and joined a violence gang.

Old Shelbyvillian Man: And with that, a mighty cheer went up from the heroes of Shelbyville. They had banished the awful lemon tree forever, because it was haunted. Now let's all celebrate with a cool glass of turnip juice.

I love Lemon of Troy because it reminds me of my own hometown. My town was rivals with another town that was thirty miles away. Both towns were almost exactly the same except the stores had different names and the other town's fire hydrants were yellow.

also

Bart: Those Shelbyville kids think they're so hot, but you know what? They're not.
Milhouse: I really agree with you on this one, Bart.

the way bart emphasizes "not" is crucial.

and

Bart: Remember: if you get lost, you can always find East by staring directly at the sun.
Martin: Here's a tip: put a pinch of sage in your boots, and all day long a spicy scent is your reward.

i just watched this episode and i already forgot how great it is.

5. Homer at the Bat - 313 points
(21 of 35 lists. Highest Ranking Vote #2 - Alan, Z.S. Ghost[/b])

"Homer at the Bat" is the seventeenth episode of The Simpsons' third season, which originally aired February 20, 1992. This episode took a long time to produce. It was written by John Swartzwelder, who is a big baseball fan, but was suggested by Sam Simon, who wanted an episode filled with real Major League Baseball players. Executive producers Al Jean and Mike Reiss doubted that they would be able to get nine players, thinking that they would be able to get three at best. However, they succeeded, and the nine players who agreed to guest star were recorded over a period of six months, whenever they were playing the Los Angeles Dodgers or California Angels. Each player recorded their part in roughly five minutes and spent the next hour writing autographs for the staff. In several cases, the writers were unable to get the player who was their first choice. Two of the players who turned down the chance to guest star were Ryne Sandberg and Carlton Fisk.

All of the players were cooperative except for José Canseco, who was intimidating. He disliked his original part and insisted it be rewritten, and the writers grudgingly[5] made him as heroic as possible. He was originally slated to wake up in bed with Edna Krabappel and miss the game, but Canseco's then-wife, Esther Haddad, objected. He disliked his caricature, stating that "the animation looked nothing like [him]," but that he found the acting was very easy.

Ken Griffey, Jr. did not understand his line "there's a party in my mouth and everyone's invited" and got quite frustrated when he was recording it. He was directed by Mike Reiss, and his father Ken Griffey, Sr. was also present, trying to coach his son. Roger Clemens, who made his own chicken noises, was directed by Jeff Martin, as was Wade Boggs. Mike Scioscia accepted his guest spot in "half a second," while Ozzie Smith has stated that he would like to guest star again "so [he] can get out [of the Springfield Mystery spot]. Don Mattingly, who was forced to shave off his "sideburns" by Mr. Burns during the episode, would later have an actual "haircut controversy", while he was playing for the New York Yankees. The coaching staff forced him to cut his long hair, and was briefly dropped from the team line-up for not doing so. Many people believed the joke in the episode to be a reference to the incident, but "Homer at the Bat" was recorded a year before it happened. Many of the guest stars, including Terry Cashman, Wade Boggs and Darryl Strawberry all admit that they are more well known because of their appearance in the episode, Cashman having "Talkin' Softball" requested more often than "Talkin' Baseball".

Memorable quotes:

Burns: No Smithers, I've decided to bring in a few ringers, professional baseballers. We'll give them token jobs at the plant and have them play on our softball team. Honus Wagner, Cap Anson, Mordecei "Three Finger" Brown...
Smithers: Uh, sir?
Burns: What is it, Smithers?
Smithers: I'm afraid all the players have either retired or... passed on. In fact, your right fielder has been dead for 130 years.
Burns: Damnation! All right, find me some good players! Living players! Scour the professional ranks! The American League! The National League! The Negro Leagues!
Smithers: I'm on my way, sir.

Homer: You're Darryl Strawberry!
Strawberry: Yes.
Homer: You play Right Field!
Strawberry: Yes.
Homer: I play Right Field too.
Strawberry: So?
Homer: Well, are you better than me?
Strawberry: Well, I've never met you, but... yes.

Hynpotist: You are all very good players...
Entire Team: We are all very good players.
Hypnotist: You will beat Shelbyville...
Entire Team: We will beat Shelbyville.
Hypnotist: You will give 110%...
Entire Team: That's impossible. No one can give more than 100%. By definition, that is the most anyone can give.

Anything having to do with Daryl Strawberry in this episode is so good, my favorite simpsons visual joke is the single tear rolling down his cheek after being taunted by bart and lisa.

also great is milhouse/bart picking teams (specifically "you got yourself a player")

pretty much anything to do with the baseball players, just the way they deliver their lines is great simply because they aren't actors.

4. Marge vs. the Monorail - 320 points
(20 of 35 lists. Highest Ranking Vote #2 - Whittle, thePlebian, MattW, Brandon[/b])

"Marge vs. the Monorail" is the twelfth episode of The Simpsons's fourth season and originally aired on January 14, 1993. The plot focuses around Springfield's buying a monorail from a conman and Marge's dislike of the purchase. It was written by Conan O'Brien and directed by Rich Moore. Leonard Nimoy guest stars as himself and Phil Hartman guest stars as Lyle Lanley.

Leonard Nimoy was originally considered for the role as the celebrity at the maiden voyage of the monorail, but the writing staff did not think he would accept, because William Shatner had previously turned the show down. Instead, George Takei was asked to guest star as he had done the show once before. After demanding several script changes, Takei declined, saying he did not want to make fun of public transportation as he was a member of the board of directors of the Southern California Rapid Transit District. As a result, the staff went to Nimoy, who accepted.

Memorable quotes:

Leonard Nimoy: I'd say this vessel could do at least Warp 5.
Mayor Quimby: And let me say, "May The Force be with you."
Leonard Nimoy: Do you even know who I am?
Mayor Quimby: I think I do. Weren't you one of the Little Rascals?

Mr. Burns: Hello, my name is Mr. Snrub, and I come from... some place far away. Yesss, that'll do. Anyway I say we invest that money back in the nuclear plant.
Smithers: I like the way Snrub thinks!

Marge: And that was the only folly the people of Springfield ever embarked upon... except for the popsicle stick skyscraper. And the 50-foot magnifying glass. And that escalator to nowhere.
